Highlights: BLS June Employment Situation
The Bureau of Labor & Statistics reports an unemployment rate of 3.7 percent in June, a 0.1 percent increase from the previous month.
Nonfarm payroll employment rose by 224,000 in June, 2019. The industries to receive the most job gains were professional & business services (+51,000), health care (+35,000), and transportation & warehousing (+24,000).
The unemployment rate of adult women (3.3%) and adult men (3.3%) remained mostly unchanged from the prior month.
Unemployment among long-term unemployed (those who have been unemployed for 27+ weeks) accounted for 23.7 percent of the unemployed at 1.4 million.
Average hourly earnings rose by $0.06 to $27.90. The average workweek remained unchanged at 34.4 hours.
